Hull City equalized courtesy of Brad Friedel’s own goal in the second half. Paul McShane put the Tigers ahead as the game went on in extra time but Harry Kane levelled 12 minutes to the end to secure penalty shoot-out. It was Ahmed El Mohamady who missed the decisive penalty and allowed Andre Villas-Boas to reach the quarterfinals.</p> <p>Manchester City also had to play extra time to knock out Alan Pardew’s Newcastle.
