Hector Alfredo Moreno Herrera plays for a Spanish top-division club RCD Espanyol and the national team of Mexico.
Aged fifteen Moreno became a part of a club UNAM and after a successful performance at the U-17 World Cup was promoted to the main squad of Pumas and very soon got a position in the starting eleven.
The player appeared in the Netherlands on December 12, 2007 having signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with AZ Alkmaar thus becoming the fifth Mexican defender to play in one of the biggest European leagues. The 2.5 years that Hector spent for the Dutch side were very fruitful. The defender made 80 appearances scoring 6 times.
On June 21, 2011 Moreno moved to a Spanish club Espanyol. He signed a 5-year agreement with the Catalan side and since then he played in 38 La Liga games in which he managed to net thrice.
Before being capped for the national team Hector Moreno was called up to the U-17 and U-20. The footballer was in the squad for the FIFA World Cup 2010 and made his debut on the group stage against France. Also Moreno was one of those to win the CONCACAF Gold Cup for Mexico against the USA squad in the final match.
As for his honours such trophies as the Dutch Cup of 2009 and the Eredivisie championship title can also be mentioned. At that time the Mexican still performed for Ajax.
