Heiko Westermann is a German football player who represents Hamburger SV. Heiko operates as a centre-back. He was born on August 14, 1983 in Alzenau, Germany.
Westermann wore the jerseys of Greuther Furth and Arminia Bielefield before joining Schalke in 2007. On July 24 the defender scored on his debut against FC Nuremberg. Westermann helped the Miners to finish second in the 2006/07 season with a number of outstanding displays at the heart of defense.
In July 2010 the commanding defender penned a contract with Hamburger SV for the next four seasons. Now he is a mainstay in the HSV defense.
On February 6, 2008 Westermann won his first cap for Germany in the match against Austria, where his team secured a 3-0 away win. He was part of the German squad that reached the Euro 2008 final. The Germany international didn`t represent his country in the 2010 World Cup due to an ankle injury.
