Hélder Barbosa is a midfielder of Braga. He was born on 25 May 1987 in Paredes, Portugal.
A product of Porto’s youth system, Barbosa signed a professional contract with this Portuguese outfit in 2004. He was immediately sent to Porto B where he played 21 games and kicked 6 goals in the 2004/2005 season.
In the 2005/2006 season, the footballer reached the main team of Porto. In his debut season the Portuguese midfielder made 5 appearances for this club. Barbosa was unable to cement a starting XI position, besides he didn’t have enough professional experience so the management decided to loan him. In the 2006/2007 season the Portuguese was sent to Académica. Despite the fact that the midfielder took part only in several games during the season the management of Académica decided to prolong the contract with Barbosa. The footballer played for his temporary team until the summer 2008 scoring 4 goals in 23 matches for two years.
In the summer 2008 Barbosa was sent on loan to Trofense where he spent the 2008/2009 season netting once in 28 matches. In the 2009/2010 season the midfielder joined Vitória de Setúbal where he featured in 26 matches kicking 2 goals.
After changing many temporary teams Barbosa penned a permanent contract with Braga in the summer 2010. In the season 2013/2014 Barbosa was loaned to UD Almeria.
From 2005 to 2010 Hélder Barbosa scored 8 goals in 31 matches for the Portugal U-19 and U-21 national teams.
