Hélder Manuel Marques Postiga is a Portuguese footballer, born in 1982 in Vila do Conde, Portugal.
A FC Porto’s youth graduate, he went on with reserves and then he joined the first team. One of the key players, Postiga helped his team to win the 2003 Primera Liga and that year he signed a €9m-deal with Tottenham Hotspur.
The following season he returned to Porto but failed to perform well and joined reserves. In 2006 he had a loan-spell in AS Saint-Étienne and the following season, 2006/07 after some changes in the team’s management he was invited to the first team. He began the season as a regular starter but by the end of the season he fell out of favor.
In January 2008 Postiga joined Panathinaikos FC on half-a-year loan. In June 2008 he transferred to Sporting Clube de Portugal and in September he scored the winning goal in a 1-0 win against Sporting de Braga.
During his second season with the team finished fourth in the league and Postiga’s individual performance went down. On the last day of the transfer window in 2011 Postiga signed for Real Zaragoza and played there for two seasons. Having scored 23 goals in 70 matches Postiga moved to Valencia in August 2013. Half a season later Postiga was loaned to Lazio.
A Portuguese international made 16 appearances for the national U-21 team scoring 13 goals.
He helped the Portugal national team to finish runners up in 2004 UEFA Euro, scoring in a 2-2 draw against England. Since 2003 he has featured in 66 matches and scored 27 goals for his country.
