Hernanes Lima is a midfielder, born on 29 May 1985 in Aliança, Brazil.
Hernanes’ youth career started in 1999 after he signed for Unibol Pernambuco youth academy. In 2001 Lima was scouted by São Paulo youth agents. Hernanes performed well in exhibition match and was signed by the club as a result. Hernanes studied at the academy for 3 years.
In 2005 Hernanes’ started his professional career by joining São Paulo first team. In the 2006/07 season Hernanes played for Santo André on loan totaling 23 games and 6 goals. After returning to São Paulo the head coach made Lima a regular key midfielder. By 2010 Hernanes had made 115 appearances and netted 18 goals for The Sovereign.
After years of successful performance for São Paulo Hernanes was scouted by Lazio as Aquilotti needed to acquire the services of such a talented player. After short talks and a transfer fee of €11.1 million Lima signed for Lazio on a 5-year contract. Hernanes became a key midfielder at Lazio and made 154 appearances and scored 40 goals for the Italian giants from 2010 to 2014.
Later on he moved to Internazionale.
Hernanes is a two-fold winner of Brazilian League, two-fold holder of Silver Ball and Brazilian Player of the Year in 2008.
In 2008 Lima earned 7 caps and scored 2 goals for Brazil U-23. Since 2008 Hernanes has been capped for Brazil national team.
