Hugo Vieira is a defender of Beira-Mar. He was born on 11 August 1976 in Braga, Portugal.
In 1987 Vieira joined the academy of Braga which is one of the best football academies in Portugal at present. During eight years the young defender was training hard with a youth team of his age and became one of the best centre backs of the academy. By 1995 the young Portuguese had been in full fitness and had gained enough experience and skills to start the career in professional football.
In the summer 1995 the defender penned a professional contract with Braga where he spent two seasons. During this time Hugo made only 15 appearances because the head coach had at his disposal more experienced and reliable players. For that reason the defender made rare starts which were priceless for him.
In 1997 Vieira was sold to the Italian side Sampdoria where the young Portuguese managed to unlock his potential to the full extent. He took part in 59 matches for three years with this club. In the summer 2000 Vieira returned to Portugal where he sealed a deal with Sporting. The career in his new team lasted for six years. Hugo was used as a reserve defender and appeared on the football field 64 times for this long term.
In 2006 Vieira joined another Portuguese club Vitória de Setúbal where he played for three seasons. The situation didn’t change greatly because Hugo was again utilized as a reserve defender. All in all he scored once in 33 games for Vitória de Setúbal.
In 2009 he finally moved to Beira-Mar where he plays until now. The defender may finish his career in this club. Now he’s the key defender of the team where he kicked 1 goal in more than 80 matches for three years.
