Hugo Lloris is a goalkeeper of the French club Lyon. He was born on 26 December 1986 in Nice, France.
Hugo’s youth career started in 1993, when he first began to get trained at CEDAC Cimiez, where he spent next four years. Hugo got a tryout at Nice in 1997. Lloris played an exhibition game, where all the persons in charge of the selection of young talents were present. Hugo was one of the selected players; in 1997 he joined the youth team of the club and was training at the football academy until 2005.
In the summer of 2005 Hugo became a professional player. He signed a three-year contract with his home club, which was the first in his life. The head coach had already had a first choice goalkeeper by the time; however he allowed the young talent to show his potential. In time Lloris began featuring in the starting lineup more often, during three years of appearances for the club Hugo played 72 matches.
In 2008 the gifted goalkeeper was noticed by Lyon, one of the strongest clubs in France that was constantly fighting for the first position in the standings. The player even advanced for the Italian Milan, but the transfer agreement failed due to the refusal of the first goalkeeper to transfer to another club. Hugo noted that Lyon would be a priority for him as he was guaranteed a place in the club’s first team squad. So it happened. FC Lyon signed the footballer to a contract and gave him a number one goalkeeper’s shirt. The transfer fee made €8.5 million. Hugo has always appeared in the starting lineup since 2008, having played 171 matches for the club by now.
From 2004 to 2008 Hugo was given 26 calls to youth teams from 18 to 21 years old. Since 2008 Hugo has been regularly invited to participate in matches for the France national team where he played 37 games.
