Givanildo Vieira de Souza (commonly known as Hulk) is a striker of Zenit. He was born on 25 July 1986 in Campina Grande, Brazil.
When Givanildo was a child, his father gave him a ‘Hulk’ nickname, because the boy liked to imitate the behavior of the famous comics’ character.
At the age of 16, Hulk’s career took off in Brazilian side Vitória, which sealed a deal with him. In February 2005, the player’s services were secured by Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale, and he performed at the usual position of a winger.
In 2006 the player was loaned out to Consadole Sapporo, where Hulk was going to perform at the position of a striker. During one year in the second division team, the footballer amassed 25 goals in 38 games and became one of the best windfalls in the league.
In July 2008, Givanildo penned a contract with Porto.
During the 2010/2011 season, Hulk became the top goalscorer of the Primeira Liga with 23 goals. The footballer scored another five goals in the 2010/2011 Europa League and was voted the best player of the tournament.
On 3 September 2012, Givanildo finalized a move to Zenit St. Petersburg.
