Ian Ross Evatt is a defender of Chesterfield. He was born on 19 November 1981 in Coventry, England.
In 1999, Evatt penned a professional contract with Derby County after several years in the academy of the club. The footballer was one of the best trainees and earned a place in the first squad, but he was given a chance to make only a couple of appearances for ‘The Rams’ during two seasons. In 2001, Ian went on loan to Northampton Town and took part in 11 fixtures for the temporary team before returning to Derby County, where he featured in 34 games during four years from 1999 till 2003.
In 2003, Chesterfield secured the defender’s services and saw him score nine goals in 84 matches during two seasons. In 2005, London side QPR took an interest in Evatt and lodged a tempting bid for him. In the summer the same year, the footballer sealed a deal with the new club, but featured only in 27 fixtures during one year.
In 2006, Ian was sent on loan to Blackpool, which decided to offer the defender a permanent contract after the end of his spell. In 2007, Evatt put pen to paper of a contract with ‘The Tangerines’ and fired nine goals in 204 games for the team.
After six seasons with the Tangerines Evatt joined Chesterfield in the summer 2013.
