Ignacio 'Nacho' María González is a Uruguayan footballer born on 14 May 1982 in Montevideo. He currently performs as a midfielder for Standard Liège and the Uruguayan national squad.
Nacho is a product of Danubio FC youth academy. In 2002 González was promoted to the professional team where he became a world-class midfielder and claimed the Uruguayan League title two times. Besides, he was named “Player of the year” in 2006 and 2007 by the Uruguayan supporters.
In early 2008, Nacho continued his career as a loan player at AS Monaco FC.
Then he had a lengthy string of spells at such European clubs as Valencia CF, Newcastle United, Levadiakos FC and Levante UD.
In 2011 González moved to the Belgian side Standard Liège.
