Igor Denisov is a midfielder of Dynamo Moscow. He was born on 17 May 1984 in St. Petersburg (former Leningrad).
The player went in for football at the age of eight and joined Turbostroitel football school, where he trained under the guidance of Maksim Sharov. At the age of ten, the player moved to Smena school, which was led by Vasily Kostrovsky. After Igor graduated from the academy, he started to perform for the youth team of Zenit.
In 2000 the footballer won the Russian youth championship. One year later, Denisov joined the reserve team of the club and picked up the bronze (2001) and the silver (2002) medals with it. Soon after that, Igor started to wear the captain’s armband when Malafeev was having a rest, and made his début for the main team of Zenit in the match against CSKA one year later.
The midfielder received his first call-up to the Russia national youth team in 2003 and picked up the silver medal of the RPL with his club at the same time. One year later, Denisov began to come on the field in Euro Cups matches.
The footballer became the champion of the Russian Premier League in 2007, 2010 and 2012, lifted the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 2008 and the Russian Super Cup in 2008 and 2011.
After serious controversies with the management of the club Igor Denisov moved to Anzhi Makhachkala in the summer 2013. However, soon after his transfer a crisis struck the club and Denisov had to leave for Dynamo Moscow.
Denisov’s debut for the Russia national team came on 11 October 2008, when he played till the full-time in the 2010 World Cup qualifier against Germany. So far Denisov has made about 40 appearances for the squad.
