Ilson Pereira Dias Júnior, or Ilsinho, is a midfielder for Shakhtar Donetsk. He was born on 12 October 1985 in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil.
Ilsinho started his career at Brazilian club Palmeiras. His confident play attracted the attention of another Brazilian club São Paulo, which sought the replacement for Real Madrid-bound Cicinho. Ilsinho signed for São Paulo in 2006, and a year later he was noticed by Shakhtar scouts. The club management was greatly impressed with the Brazilian midfielder’s play, and in July 2007 Ilsinho moved to Donetsk for a transfer fee of 10 million euros. On 11 August the Brazilian debuted for the new club in a match against Poltava Vorskla in the Ukrainian championship. From 2007 to 2010 Ilson played 96 matches and scored 14 goals for Shakhtar.
In May 2010, there occurred a scandal concerning accusations brought by Ilsinho against the club management for not paying him salary for 4 months, and by the club management - regarding the refund to the club for not extending the contract with Shakhtar. Due to the scandal the footballer moved first to São Paulo, and then, a year later, to Internacional. In 2012 Ilsinho lost the court case, and Internacional did not extend his contract. After that Ilsinho decided to return to Shakhtar, even though he has received offers from other clubs to sign him and pay his debt in full.
In 2007 Ilsinho debuted for Brazil in a friendly against Ghana.
