Íñigo Calderón is a back of Brighton & Hove Albion. He was born on 4 January 1982 in Vitoria, Spain.
In 2001, Íñigo started to perform at a semi-professional level for Alavés C. In fact, the footballer penned a professional contract with the club, but being a player of the third squad cannot be compared with playing for the main team. That is why Calderón focused on his development and tried to do his best to clinch a place in the full squad.
From 2001 till 2004, the back performed for Alavés C and Alavés B, but he failed to gain the confidence of the head coach and completed a move to Alicante. That step in Íñigo’s career became a watershed moment, because he got more playing time and became more self-confident, which helped the footballer make 84 appearances and fire five goals for the club during three years.
In 2007, Calderón transferred to Alavés, which decided to get its former trainee back. The defender took part in 52 fixtures and found the net two times till January 2010, when he sealed a deal with English side Brighton & Hove Albion. Íñigo understood the level of British football excelled the Spanish one in terms of struggling, physical form and stamina, but that fact did not scare him. The back featured in 103 games and amassed 12 goals for the club as of November 2012.
