Iñigo Pérez Soto is a Spanish midfielder who plays for Athletic Bilbao.
He had spent the start of his career at the Lezama academy before he was picked to play for Athletic Bilbao reserves in 2007. Nevertheless he also played a few games for Baskonia that is the farm club of the Basque team.
He made his debut for the first team against Rayo Vallecano in the Copa del Rey tournament. Two days later he appeared in his first La Liga match replacing Pablo Orbaiz and eventually gaining a 1-0 victory for the Basque side against Atlético Madrid.
As soon as he moved to Athletic’s first team in the season 2010/11 he scored in a 3-0 victory against RCD Mallorca being allowed to the field only 10 minutes before the final whistle.
On March 8, 2011 he was sent on loan to Huesca that played in the Segunda. The winter transfer window was already closed but the Royal Spanish Football Federation made a step forward because of the injury problems in the Aragonese squad.
As soon as Marcelo Bielsa stepped up for the post of the manager and being pushed by the injuries of the key players he gave more playing time to Iñigo.
