Ivan Matyazh was born on 15 February 1988 in Donetsk, Ukraine.
From 2001 to 2004, Matyazh trained at FC Shakhtar Donetsk academy, where he was one of the most promising young players for three years. The footballer performed for one and a half years in many matches for the U-15 and U-17 teams. In 2004, Matyazh moved to FC Shakhtar-3 Donetsk, where he played for four years.
In 2004, Ivan Matyazh appeared in a match for FC Shakhtar-2 Donetsk, but was later sent to FC Shakhtar-3. In 2007, Ivan moved on loan to FC Zorya Luhansk, where he stayed for one season, but didn’t play in a single match. In 2009, Matyazh moved again on loan to FC Olimpik Donetsk. During one season the striker played stunningly for a new club, performing in 27 matches and scoring 12 goals.
In 2010, the player signed a contract with SC Tavriya Simferopol for several years. However, a year later Ivan left the club and moved to FC Olimpik Donetsk, for which he had already played on loan in 2009. Matyazh performed skillfully for FC Olimpik for half of the season. During this period the forward played in 19 matches and netted 10 goals.
Since 2012, Matyazh has been playing for FC Metalurh Zaporizhya. In the second half of the 2011/2012 season, the footballer performed in 13 games, scoring 2 goals.
In 2005, Ivan Matyazh played in 3 matches for the Ukraine national U-19 team.
