James Hurst is a defender of Crawley Town. He was born on 31 January 1992 in Sutton Coldfield, England.
Hurst emerged through the youth system at West Bromwich. He played for several youth teams of the club and took part in different tournaments while being a trainee of the club’s academy for seven years. James took further steps on his way to professional football, when reached the top of the system and was given an opportunity to perform at the new level in 2008.
In 2008 Portsmouth bought the player and signed him on permanent basis, but Hurst did not manage to make any appearances during one year and a half. In January 2010, the footballer was sent on loan to ÍBV and made his début for the temporary team, becoming a regular short after. James took part in 16 matches and scored one goal during his six-month spell in the Icelandic side.
In the summer 2010, Hurst transferred to his native West Bromwich Albion, where he was fostered for many years of his youth career. After half a year in the club, the footballer completed a loan deal with Blackpool and made two appearances during six months.
In the summer 2011, James went on another loan, this time to Shrewsbury Town, where he took part in seven games. In January 2012, West Bromwich’s management agreed a loan deal with Chesterfield and Hurst spent the second half of the 2011/2012 season with the new temporary club.
In 2013 the player’s services were secured by Crawley Town.
From 2007 till 2011, James was capped 20 times for the England national U-16, U-17, U-19 and U-20 teams.
