James McCarthy is a midfielder of Everton. He was born on 12 November 1990 in Glasgow, Scotland.
James’s professional career took off in 2006, when he joined Hamilton Academical. The footballer was under age, but that did not prevent him from proving to everybody he was capable of making many achievements. During three years McCarthy performed for ‘The Accies’, he developed into a promising footballer, who possessed outstanding reaction. From 2006 till 2009, the midfielder made 95 appearances and amassed 13 goals for the club.
In 2009 the player drew the attention of various middle-class English clubs. Wigan beat off competition from other teams and made McCarthy’s capture one of its main priorities. In the summer the same year, the parties came to an agreement concerning the footballer’s transfer. From 2009 to 2013 James was one of the pivots of ‘Latics’ and made a lot of appearances on the pitch with the starting team.
After the season 2012/2013 Wigan were relegated from the Premier League and James McCarthy was offered a contract with Everton.
From 2007 James began his international performance, being invited to the Scotland national U-17 team. Later he continued his career by playing at U-18, U-19 and U-21 levels. The footballer took part in 13 matches and contributed three goals for the squads during three years. From 2010, McCarthy was capped three times for the Republic of Ireland national team.
