Jamie Carragher was a back of Liverpool F.C. He was born on 28 January 1978 in Bootle, England.
Jamie’s youth career began in 1990, when he joined the Liverpool academy. He trained and played there during six years, taking part in different youth championships. His youth career did not last long, because Carragher developed very quickly and became skilled enough to perform professionally by the age of 18. Besides, the footballer’s physical data was outstanding for a centre back, which made his candidature even more attractive for being moved to the first team.
In 1996 Jamie was offered to sign his first professional contract, which he actually did in the summer and has never left the club. From the first rounds of 1996/1997 season Jamie got a lot of opportunities to make starts, because the head coach wanted him to get familiar with the team as soon as possible. Liverpool really counted on the footballer and wanted to be sure that their former trainee would come up to their expectations. Jamie is an unchallenged centre back of the club who had made 508 appearances for it.
At the end of 2012/2013 season the illustrious back retired from football.
From 1997 till 2000 Jamie took part in 31 matches and netted two goals for the England national U-20 and U-21 teams. From 1998 till 2006 he made three appearances for England B. And from 1999 till 2010 he was capped 38 times for the full Three Lions squad.
