Jan Wuytens is a defender of AZ Alkmaar. He was born on 9 June 1985 in Hasselt, Belgium.
The footballer had played for four different amateur clubs before he joined the youth team of Anderlecht. However, Jan did not stay there for long, because his family moved to the Netherlands. 13-year-old player started his career in PSV Eindhoven, where he spent six years before penning a contract with Heracles Almelo. Wuytens’s professional début came on 13 August 2005 in the home 1-1 draw with PSV. Three years later, on 12 September 2008, the defender netted his first goal in the game against Heerenveen. Jan made 79 appearances and found the net five times for the club during four years.
On 14 June 2009, the Belgian footballer sealed a four-year deal with Utrecht, where he continued to perform until 2013 on the position of a central defender. Wuytens’s first appearance for the new team came on 1 August 2009 in the away 1-0 victory over RKC Waalwijk. The player took part in 86 fixtures and fired four goals for Utrecht.
In the summer 2013 the Belgian joined AZ Alkmaar.
