Jaroslav Plašil is a left winger and an attacking midfielder of Bordeaux. He was born on 5 January 1982 in a Czech town Opočno.
Jaroslav’s youth career began in 1987 in Sokol Černíkovice where Plašil featured for the youth team up to 1992. From 1992 to 1993 Jaroslav was playing for Spartak Rychnov nad Kněžnou youth team. However in 1993 he finally transferred to the last youth academy. That time it was Hradec Králové academy.
In 1998 Jaroslav signed a professional two-year contract with the club that had trained him to the professional level. Jaroslav played 4 matches during two years.
In 2000 Monaco acquired the player. During the first two seasons Jaroslav Plašil appeared in the club’s first squad, not so often though to become the core footballer.
In 2002 Jaroslav was loaned to Créteil for which he played 14 matches over one season.
After returning to Monaco Plašil was regularly called up to the club’s matches; besides he featured in the club’s first squad taking the field as a starter. Plašil appeared in 122 matches scoring 5 goals over the whole history of appearances for Monaco.
In 2007 the Spanish club Osasuna acquired the player signing him to a four-year contract. Jaroslav successfully joined the team and achieved a vote of confidence from the head coach thus participating practically in all club’s matches over two seasons, from 2007 to 2009.
In 2009 the French club Bordeaux acquired the Czech midfielder for €3 million and signed him to a four-year contract. In 2013 he was loaned to Calcio Catania.
From 2002 to 2003 Jaroslav featured for the Czech Republic national U-21 football team 16 times. Jaroslav has been regularly called up to the Czech Republic national team since 2004. He has played 83 games scoring 6 goals already.
