A Spanish footballer, Francisco Javier García Fernández, plays for Manchester City as a midfielder. He was born in 1987 in Mula, Spain, and spent his youth playing career with Real Madrid’s academy.
When he was 17 years old, he made his debut for the first team in a 5–0 win against Levante UD in November 2004. After that he spent three seasons with Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s reserve team, in Segunda División, where he earned 86 caps and scored 10 goals.
On 31 August 2007 García signed a four-year contract with CA Osasuna for a fee of €2.5 million though his deal had a buy-back clause and the following season he moved back to Real Madrid. There he made his La Liga appearance in September 2008, beating Sporting de Gijón 7–1.
In July 2009, García moved to Portugal signing a €7m deal with S.L. Benfica for five years. He was a regular starter during the first season and helped his team to win the national league in his first season with the club. In total he recorded 73 appearances for the Portuguese outfit and scored 6 goals.
Javi García represented Spain at different levels and still remains the player of the national team.
