Javier Guerra Rodríguez was born in 1982 in Vélez-Málaga, Spain.
Javi started his professional playing career in the third division with Motril CF in 2002 and the next season he moved to Cádiz CF.
Javi Guerra joined Valencia’s reserve team in 2004. During three years in the club he appeared in two matches for about ten minutes in each.
The season 2007/08 he spent with Granada CF and the next two seasons, being owned by Mallorca, he played in loan for Deportivo Alavés and Levante UD. Having scored 12 goals, Javi Guerra helped Valencian club to return to the top division.
In 2010 he joined Real Valladolid, the team of the second division, on a four-year contract. During his first year he scored 12 goals and became the second best top scorer. Javi helped his team to win Recreativo de Huelva, SD Huesca, SD Ponferradina, UD Salamanca, FC Barcelona B and AD Alcorcón.
He scored the only goal in the game of the first tie against Elche CF in 2011 Segunda Division play-offs.
During four seasons with the club Guerra netted 69 goals in 146 matches. In the summer 2014 the Spaniard joined Cardiff City.
