Ángel Javier Arizmendi was born in 1984 in Madrid, Spain. Currently Javier is a part of Deportivo La Coruna playing as a winger or a forward.
He spent his youth playing career at the academy of his hometown Atlético Madrid and, having joined the senior team, he made his first appearance in a 1-3 loss at FC Barcelona in February 2004. The 2004/05 season Arizmendi spent on loan to Racing de Santander and in 2006 he signed a deal with Deportivo de La Coruña. The following season he spent with Valencia CF and in 2007 he switched to Real Zaragoza. Arizmendi spent here two seasons and in his first season, playing for the team, he helped them to return to the top division.
In the summer of 2010, he moved to Getafe CF, where he played during a season and the next summer he was sent to Swiss club Neuchâtel Xamax on a season-long loan though in January he returned back with three teammates.
In summer 2012, Arizmendi signed a loan deal with RCD Mallorca. After returning from the spell Arizmendi signed a permanent deal with Deportivo La Coruna.
Arizmendi represented the Spain national U-20 team at FIFA World Youth Championship in the United Arab Emirates in 2003, when they finished runner-up. He appeared in one match for the senior national side on 7 February 2007.
