Javier Balboa is a midfielder of Beira-Mar. He was born on 13 May 1985 in Madrid, Spain.
In 1992 he entered the academy of Avance where he spent first four years of his youth career training to play football with some youth teams of his age. In 1996 Balboa caught the eye of the Alcalá academy where he spent three years from 1996 to 1999. During three years Javier secured his position in the youth squad where he was one of the best players strikingly standing out against other footballers. Balboa’s character and potential prompted interest from the Royal Club because the player corresponded to the philosophy of Real Madrid. In the summer 1999 Javier officially joined the academy of Real Madrid where he spent another five years of instructions, trainings and performances.
In the summer 2004 the footballer penned his first professional contract with Real Madrid. Balboa was sent to Real Madrid C where he spent the 2004/05 season which was a success for him. The footballer took part in 34 matches and kicked 1 goal. For the next season Javier was sent to Real Madrid B where he also delivered solid performances scoring once in 32 games. With the beginning of 2006 Javier came on the pitch several times with the first team of Real Madrid however he didn’t make regular appearances.
In the summer 2006 Balboa was sent on loan to Racing where he spent his first complete season with a professional club featuring in 30 games as a first team player.
In the summer 2008 the midfielder joined the Portuguese outfit Benfica with which he signed the second professional contract in his career. The footballer played for this club during two seasons. He had to fight the competition which was observed in Benfica like in any other football club. In the summer 2010 he was loaned to Cartagena where he spent half a season taking part in 11 games. In January 2011 Balboa was sent on loan to Albacete. It was the last time he was sent on loan.
In the summer 2011 Javier Balboa signed a permanent deal with Beira-Mar. The debut 2011/2012 season was a success for him despite the fact that his team finished at the bottom of the table avoiding top level relegation for the next season.
Since 2007 Javier Balboa has been capped more than 10 times for the Equatorial Guinea national team and has scored 2 goals.
