Flaño spent his junior years at the youth department of Osasuna. He spent several years performing for the club’s youth teams and earning the playing experienced. He studied the football in its minutest details at the academy and got ready to start a senior career.
In 2001, Javier was promoted to Osasuna B team, where he spent four years. At first, the young defender made only rare appearances, but within some time he proved to be experienced enough to get the place in the first eleven. In total, he made 99 appearances for the B team.
In the summer 2005, Flaño was promoted to the main squad of Osasuna and he got an opportunity to start a new wonderful stage in his career. Javier trained hard in order to earn the place in the starting XI. He spent five years at the club netting one goal in 72 matches.
In the summer 2009, the defender moved to Numancia. He clinched into the first eleven from the very first season and became the team’s anchor player. Altogether, he appeared 75 times and racked up one goal for the squad.
The 2011/2012 season Javier would find himself at Elche FC. His debut season was lined with 28 appearances made.
On international level, Javier Flaño Bezunartea made seven appearances for the Spain youth national team at U-20, U-21 and U-23 levels. He performed for the national side from 2003 to 2006.
