Jefferson Farfán is a Peruvian footballer of Schalke 04 who can play both as a midfielder and a striker. He is one of the pivots of the Peru national team.
Jefferson’s professional début came on 2001 in Alianza Lima. In 2004 Farfán moved to the Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, with which he became the Eredivisie champion four times and once lifted the KNVB Cup.
In 2008 the footballer drew the attention of many European clubs like Tottenham and Fiorentina. However, Schalke got round its rivals and bought the Peruvian player, who signed a four-year contract with the new team. The best moment in Farfán’s career in Schalke was the 2010/2011 Champions League Round of 16, where his double propelled the German side club to the quarterfinals. In the summer 2011 there were rumours that Jefferson was going to join Russian side Terek, but he stayed in Germany.
