Jelle Van Damme is a Belgian player born on 10 October 1983 in Lokeren. He currently plays as a midfielder for Standard Liège and the Belgium national squad.
Jelle started his career in the youth ranks of Beveren before he joined Lokeren side as a youth player. In 2001 Van Damme penned his 1st professional contract with Germinal Beerschot. In February 2002 Jelle completed a move to Ajax, where he debuted on 14 April 2002.
In 2004 Van Damme was acquired by Southampton in a transfer deal worth £2.5 mln. The footballer played his debut Premier League game on 28 August 2004 against Chelsea.
Jelle’s 4-year spell at Anderlecht was the most successful as he won the Belgian 1st division two times, lifted the Belgian Cup and Super Cup with them.
In January 2011 Standard Liège welcomed Van Damme into the fold. The footballer made his senior international debut for Belgium on 29 March 2003 against Croatia.
