Jérôme René Marcel Rothen was born on March 31, 1978 in Châtenay-Malabry, France. He was one of the players of the France National Team, won the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup. As far as his clubs are concerned, Jérôme was the winner of the Coupe de la Ligue with Paris Saint-Germain and the Coupe de la Ligue with Monaco AS. Jérôme Rothen is an experienced winger, famous for his direct kicks, crossing and accurate passing.
Jérôme Rothen started playing at Caen SM and in 1997 his adult football career began. Having played 5 seasons for Caen SM and Troyes AC, he was bought by Monaco AS for €5 million. Jérôme showed fantastic performance for the club and managed to reach the Champions League final in 2004.
Since Jérôme grew up in the Paris metropolitan area, he had a childhood dream to play for Paris Saint-Germain. The dream came true in 2004, when the footballer was signed for €11 million. He gave preference to Paris Saint-Germain over the generous offers of such powerful clubs as Manchester United, Chelsea FC and Valencia CF.
However, the PSG period of Jérôme Rothen’s career was not in the least successful. He was not a regular player, suffered multiple injuries. In 2009 he no longer belonged to the first string and in the end was loaned to Rangers FC (Scotland). The second half of the 2009/2010 season the footballer spent in a Turkish club Ankaragücü MKE.
In the spring of 2011 Jérôme Rothen signed a contract with Bastia FC and made his debut for the team on July 29, 2011. After two years with the club the 35-year-old moved to Ligue 2 side Caen.
