Jerzy Dudek is a retired footballer from Poland, born in 1973. He graduated from Górnik Knurów and went on his senior career at Concordia Knurów, where he played between 1991 and 1996. Then the goalkeeper had a season at Sokół Tychy and after that he left Poland for Dutch team Feyenoord. He wasn’t used during his first season there and all the other Eredivisie seasons he was a regular. In 1998/99 Feyenoord won the Eredivisie title, in 1998/99 and 1999/2000 he was named Dutch Goalkeeper of the Year and in 1999/2000 he was awarded with Dutch Golden Shoe.
In the summer of 2001 Dudek completed a move to Liverpool. His first season there was a prolific one, as he established himself the first-choice and helped them to finish the Premier League runners-up. Throughout his spell the team won UEFA Champions League in 2004/05, in 2006/07 they were runners-up. Liverpool won UEFA Super Cup in 2005, FA Cup in 2005/06, and Football League Cup in 2002/03. In 2005 they were runners-up in FIFA Club World Championship.
In 2007 the goalkeeper moved to the Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid. There he almost wasn’t given playing time because of the first-choice Iker Casillas. He made rare appearances in the Champions League matches, Copa del Rey and Spanish Cup games. In 2011 he retired as a player.
Jerzy Dudek earned 60 caps for the Poland national team. He made his debut in 1996 in the match against Russia and retired after the match against Liechtenstein, in June 2013.
