Jimmy Hempte is a defender of KV Oostende. He was born on 24 March 1982 in Tournai, Belgium.
Jimmy’s career took off in local AS Obigies, from where the footballer moved to more prestigious Excelsior Mouscron. Hempte trained with the club during six years and took part in various junior competitions, but he failed to make his senior début for the club.
That is why, in 2002, the defender decided to pen a contract with Gent, where he made his first professional appearance on 10 August 2003 in the away 2-4 victory over Beveren. Two years later, Jimmy returned to Mouscron, but was used only as a substitute during the season.
In 2005, the footballer finalized a move to Kortrijk and made his début for the new club on 31 August 2005 in the home 2-1 victory over Excelsior Virton. On 20 May 2007, Hempte netted his first goal, which became the winner in the match against Leven side Oud Heverlee. The defender took part in 128 fixtures and fired eight goals for Kortrijk during five seasons.
In the winter 2010, Jimmy put pen to paper of a three-and-a-half-year contract with Dutch side Roda JC, where he continues to perform at the position of a left defender up till now. The footballer’s début for the new club came on 6 August 2010 in the home goalless draw with Twente. One week later, on 15 August, Hempte scored his first goal for Roda in the away game versus ADO Den Haag. The player made 65 appearances and went on to net five times for the club.
In 2013 the defender returned to Belgian Pro League to join newly promoted side KV Oostende.
