Jimmy Tau is a retired footballer from South Africa.
He was born in 1980 in Kimberley, South Africa, and in 1990 began his professional playing career. His first club was Basotho Tigers and then he played for Maritzburg City before he signed for Orlando Pirates in 2002. Jimmy Tau played for them during three seasons and then moved to Kaizer Chiefs in 2005.
After an eight-year spell with the club Tau retired at the end of 2012/2013 campaign.
From 2003 to 2007 he made 8 appearances for the South Africa national team and in 2006 he was called up to represent the team at the African Cup of Nations.
