João Coimbra is a Portuguese midfielder currently playing for Estoril Praia in the Portuguese top flight. He was born on 24 May 1986 in Santa Comba Dão, Portugal.
A product of Benfica youth system, João began his senior career with the club in 2005. He was a regular starter for the reserve squad during his debut season at Benfica. In 2006, Coimbra was called into the first team. In the next campaign he was sent on a season-long loan to Nacional and then played on loan for Gil Vicente. In 2009, Coimbra signed for Estoril and plays for the club today. In the 2011/12 season, he helped them to promote to the Primeira Liga after seven years of absence.
João Coimbra featured for Portugal at various youth levels. He was part of the U17 squad who won the UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship in 2003.
