João Miranda de Souza Filho (or simply Miranda) is a central defender playing for Atlético Madrid and the national team of Brazil.
He started his career in his native state of Parana for Coritiba - the most prestigious team of the region. Soon he signed for Sochaux but he couldn’t pave his way to the main squad of the French club. He played in 20 league games but eventually returned to his motherland signing for São Paulo.
In 2007 Miranda became the champion of Brazil. He formed a productive trio with his teammates Alex Silva and Breno.
In 2008 the best defensive line of the championship again included Miranda but the other two players were Andre Diaz and Rodrigo. They led São Paulo to the third in a row league triumph.
Miranda signed for Atlético Madrid in 2011. During the season he made respectful 27 appearances and scored once.
As an international Miranda joined the national team of Brazil in 2007 and made his debut in 2009. All in all he started for the club 6 times.
