A Portuguese footballer João Henrique Pataco Tomás plays for an Angolan club Libolo as a striker. He was born on 27 May 1975 in Oliveira de Bairro.
In 1995, João gave his professional career a start, after a year-long contract with Anadia had been signed. He made only occasional appearances for the main team. In 1996 Tomás joined Académica, where he was groomed during the following three years. He became the team’s constant starter, after the head coach made sure the player was ready to get the place in starting line-up. In total, João made 81 appearances and netted 28 goals for the club. In January 2000, he moved to Benfica for half a year, appearing 41 times and scoring 19 goals for the main team. In the summer 2001, the player joined Betis. He was let 32 times on the field and netted 7 goals over the course of a season. The period from 2003 to 2009 was lined with constant clubs’ changes. During that time João performed for such clubs as Vitória Guimarães, Braga, Al-Arabi, Al-Rayyan and Boavista. In the course of six years the footballer made 143 appearances and scored 64 overall goals.
In the summer 2009, he signed a contract with Rio Ave. His performance for the club was divided into two periods. His first period lasted for half a season, before a transfer to Al-Sharjah was made in January 2010. In the summer 2010, João was back to Rio Ave, where he continued to play up till 2013. At that time the veteran joined the club Libolo from Angola.
