Joaquín Sánchez Rodríguez is a Spanish midfielder playing for Fiorentina and the Spanish national team.
He spent the start of his career in the reserve team of Real Betis. Joaquín had played one season before he got promoted to the first team having become a leader of the squad. Sánchez spent 6 seasons for Real Betis making 180 appearances with 29 goals.
This footballer scored five times and provided 15 assists in the season 2004/05. Together with his squad he won the Copa del Rey, second in history of the Spanish side. Also he was a part of the squad that qualified for the Champions League and delivered good football in the tournament. However they took an eventual third place on the group stage and got ‘relegated’ to the UEFA Cup.
As the Spaniard announced about his desire to leave the club Valencia became one of the clubs that paid a great deal of attention to this player and after a series of negotiations he was transferred to the ‘Bats’. However he was sent on loan to Albacete before the terms of the deal came into force because Sánchez had a row with the manager Manuel Ruiz de Lopera. Nevertheless the player didn’t happen to play for the club as his contract with Valencia came into effect by the end of August. During 5 seasons Joaquín was involved in 158 games for Valencia and scored 18 times.
The footballer signed for Málaga on June 27, 2011 where he spent a decent first season with 23 appearances and 3 goals for the club. After a second season with the club Joaquin agreed to join Italian side Fiorentina who qualified for the Champions League.
Sánchez played 53 games with 4 goals for the Spanish national squad. He took part in such big tournaments as the FIFA World Cups of 2002 and 2006 and the European championships of 2004 and 2008.
