Joe Mattock is a defender of Sheffield Wednesday. He was born on 15 May 1990 in Leicester, England.
In 2007, Joe graduated from the academy of local Leicester City and put pen to paper of his first professional contract with the club, where he quickly adapted to the new level and netted one goal in 66 fixtures during two seasons. The footballer’s performance drew the attention of various English teams, but West Bromwich Albion was the first to offer Mattock a lucrative contract and lodge a tempting bid for the defender.
In 2009, Joe sealed a deal with ‘The Baggies’, but failed to clinch a regular place in the starting line-up of the new club at once. In January 2011, the footballer went on loan to Sheffield United and made 13 appearances for ‘The Blades’ before completing a temporary move to Portsmouth, where he featured in seven games during six months. In 2012, Mattock was loaned out to Brighton and Hove Albion, where he made decent display and took part in 15 matches during his spell. After returning to his parent West Bromwich Albion, the defender took his tally to 29 appearances for the team by 2012.
In the summer 2012, Sheffield Wednesday secured Joe’s services on a long-term deal and saw him feature in seven games as of February 2013.
From 2006 till 2009, the footballer was capped 19 times and contributed one goal for the England national U-17, U-19 and U-21 squads.
