Joel Ward is a player of Crystal Palace, who is capable of operating both as a defender and a defensive midfielder. He was born on 29 October 1989 in Emsworth, England.
Joel was a trainee of Portsmouth academy, where he spent two years and perfected his workmanship in order to earn an invitation to the main squad of the club.
In 2008, the footballer penned a contract with ‘Pompey’, but went on loan to Bournemouth almost at once. He made 21 appearances for the temporary team during six months, which helped him to gain the initial experience and become more confident. After returning to his parent Portsmouth, Ward started to show solid performance and clinched a place in the starting line-up. The defender soon became the pivot and netted six goals in 89 fixtures for the club during four seasons.
In 2012, Joel sealed a permanent four-year deal with Crystal Palace and featured in 20 games for ‘The Glaziers’ as of February 2013.
