Jonas Mendes is a goalkeeper of Beira-Mar. He was born on 20 November 1989 in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau.
Mendes’ professional career started in 2007 when the footballer was offered to be promoted from the youth team of Amora F.C. to its senior team. Jonas was glad to have such an opportunity and signed a contract without hesitations in the summer 2007. During the first season Mendes failed to come on the pitch with the main team but the situation remained the same in the next season. He managed to play 16 games for Amora overall. Mendes didn’t gain the confidence of the head coach, besides the footballer lacked the skills necessary to be the key player.
In 2011 Jonas entered into the final stage of negotiations with Beira-Mar which offered him an excellent contract. In the summer 2011 Mendes sealed his second professional contract and officially joined Beira-Mar. During the 2011/12 season the footballer sometimes got into the starting eleven. However in the first place he should be in full fitness to be ready to replace the first-choice keeper at any time.
