A Spanish footballer José Manuel Catalá Mazuecos performs as a defender for Real Murcia. José Manuel was born on 1 January 1985 in Villajoyosa, Alicante.
Catalá spent his junior career at the youth department of Valencia. In 2004, the defender was selected for the B team of the club. Very soon, the footballer was loaned out by Villajaoyosa. He spent two years playing for the temporary squad. The spell was lined with 18 appearances made. In 2006, José Manuel rejoined the reserve squad of Valencia, where he spent another season. In total, he appeared 19 times for the B team.
In 2007, a new contract was penned with Villarreal. At first, Catalá was a member of the club’s reserve team. In 2010, when he was 25, the defender earned the promotion to the main squad of Villarreal. To get more playing time, he had to compete with an experienced footballer Joan Capdevila, relegating the World and European Champion to the bench in several games.
José Manuel finished his debut year with 30 appearances made. On 3 January 2011, he scored a goal in a match with Almería, as the club qualified to the UEFA Champions League.
