José Enrique is a left back of Liverpool. He was born on 23 January 1986 in Valencia, Spain.
José began his youth career in the Levante youth system, where he played for a long time before joining Levante B.
In 2004 Enrique was offered to sign a professional contract with the club. However, first he was sent to the reserve team so that he could gain playing experience.
In 2005 the footballer was bought by Spanish side Valencia. Jóse did not manage to play for the club from the first season as he was sent on loan to Celta Vigo and made 15 appearances for the temporary team during 2005/2006.
In 2006 the back drew the attention of Villarreal, which decided to buy the footballer from Valencia. In the summer the same year José Enrique signed a contract, according to which he played for the club till 2007, when the Spaniard got another transfer offer.
In 2007 the back received an offer to move to English Premier League club Newcastle United for about £6.5 million. Enrique accepted the offer and signed a five-year contract with the new team. He became the pivot of the club’s defense, took part in 119 matches and scored one goal.
In 2011 Liverpool took an interest in the left back of Newcastle United and made a £7 million bid for the player in the summer the same year. Enrique penned a long-term contract and has turned into a regular at the club. He has already made 43 appearances for Liverpool.
From 2001 till 2008 Enrique was capped nine times and scored one goal for the Spain national U-16, U-20 and U-21 teams.
