Joseph Yobo is a Nigerian professional centre-back under contract with Fenerbahçe (Turkey). He was born in Kono, Nigeria on September 6, 1980.
Joseph Yobo’s professional career started at Standard de Liège in 1998. The footballer made his debut in 2000 and played 46 matches for the club in total. In 2001 the defender was signed up by Olympique de Marseille.
After his debut Joseph Yobo was loaned to Tenerife CD and nine months later returned to Marseille. In July 2002 the centre back came on loan to Everton FC and in 2003 was bought by the club.
In the season of 2010/2011 Joseph Yobo played for Fenerbahçe and won the title of the Champion of Turkey. In the run-up to the season of 2011/2012 Fenerbahçe offered Joseph to extend his loan contract and the footballer did not reject the offer.
In 2014 Yobo was loaned to Norwich City.
From 2001 to 2014 Yobo was capped 100 times for Nigeria national team. He quit international football at the age of 33, after getting his 100th in the match against France at the World Cup in Brazil.
