Juan Silveira dos Santos is a central defender for AS Roma. He was born on 1 February 1979 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Juan began his youth career in 1989 when he first entered Flamengo youth system. For seven years the young defender played for the club being one of the most reliable defenders of his age.
In 1996 Juan started his professional career, when he was offered a contract with Flamengo, which he signed without any doubts. For the first six years in pro football Juan Silveira netted 5 goals in 75 matches.
In 2002 Silveira caught the eye of German Bayer Leverkusen which showed interest in Juan. The contract terms were fairly generous and Juan was keen on progressing to a new level of performance.
In 2002 Juan dos Santos became the key defender in Bayer, where he played 139 matches and scored 10 goals.
In 2007 the Brazilian signed a deal with Roma and moved to Italy, probably till the end of his career. Juan is currently a regular in the starting line-up with more than 130 appearances for AS Roma starting from 2007. In 2012, he signed for the Brazilian side Internacional.
In 1995 Juan began his youth career in the Brazil U-17 team, playing for 1 year and scoring 2 goals in 6 matches for the squad. In 1997 dos Santos was capped for the national U-20 team featuring in 5 games till 1999.
From 2001 till 2010 Juan was invited to the Brazil national football team, where he capped 82 times and scored 8 goals.
