Juan Carlos Valerón Santana represents Deportivo de La Coruña since 2000 as an attacking midfielder. A Spanish footballer was born in 1975 in Arguineguín, Spain, and started playing with Las Palmas.
The season 1997/98 Valerón moved to RCD Mallorca and made his first La Liga appearance in August 1997 in the match against Valencia CF. He helped the team to finish runner-up at the Copa del Rey.
From 1998 till 2000 Valerón played for Atlético Madrid, where he was a regular starter but when the team relegated from La Liga, he switched to Deportivo de La Coruña. As some time went by Juan Carlos became the first-choice though during his career in Deportivo he had periods, spent on the bench. In 2004 he renewed his contract but once in a while Valerón suffered injuries.
Since 1998 Valerón represented Spain at international level. He helped his team at UEFA Euro 2000 and the 2002 FIFA World Cup, when he scored a gaol in a 3-1 victory over Slovenia, at UEFA Euro 2004, when he netted in a 1-0 win against Russia.
