Juan Manuel Iturbe is a forward, born on 4 June 1993 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In 2005 Iturbe joined the Universal football academy where he was trained for a year. In 2006 he completed a move to the Trinidense academy where he spent a year. In 2007 Cerro Porteño invited the footballer to a try-out where he took part in the exhibition match. Courtesy of his successful performance he was offered to join Cerro Porteño youth team. During two years he was trained at this academy, where he finally prepared to start his professional career.
In the summer 2009 Iturbe signed a contract with Cerro Porteño where he spent a season making only 7 appearances. He didn’t have enough experience of playing on the professional level that’s why it was difficult for him to secure a place in the starting eleven which comprised many experienced footballers. In 2010 Iturbe moved to Quilmes where he spent one season. He either stayed on the bench or even wasn’t included in the first team so he failed to come on the pitch during his spell with this team.
In 2011 Juan Iturbe returned to Cerro Porteño for a year. During half a year the young forward kicked 4 goals in 11 games. Iturbe drew the attention of the Portuguese side Porto which recognized his great talent. Porto´s agents held several stages of negotiations with Cerro Porteño to agree on the terms of Iturbe´s transfer to the Portuguese club. In the summer 2011 Juan sealed a long-term deal with Porto.
Finding it hard to fit the young Argentine to the main squad Porto sent him on loan to River Plate and later on to Verona. At the end of the loan spell Iturbe completed a permanent switch to the Italian outfit. In the summer 2014 Iturbe completed a move to AS Roma.
From 2010 to 2013 Iturbe was capped for the Argentina U-20 national team.
