Juan Manuel Vargas is a winger of AC Fiorentina. He was born on 5 October, 1983 in Magdalena del Mar, Peru.
Juan started his youth career in the academy of Universitario in 1995. He has been fostered there for five years and found himself experienced enough to give a start to his professional career.
In the summer 2002 Vargas signed a contract with Universitario and quickly became one of the team’s anchor players. He had taken part in 69 fuxtures of the team and amassed 7 goals.
In January 2005 Juan put pen to paper of a contract with the Argentine Colon where he played for one year and a half. He was a high rated midfielder there, played in 53 matches and found the net four times.
In 2006 the talented player was noticed by the European clubs. Catania Calcio offered the best conditions for the Peruvian and he officially joined the Italian team in the summer 2006. He quickly became an undisputed starter of the club, took part in 69 fixtures and scored 5 times.
In 2008 Manuel moved to Fiorentina, which highly demanded the experienced winger. Since 2008 Vargas has taken part in 105 matches of the team and fired in 12 goals.
On 31 August 2012 he was loaned to Genoa.
Since 2004 Juan Manuel Vargas has been capped 39 times and amassed four goals for the Peru national team.
