Juan Zúñiga is a right back for Napoli. He was born on 14 December 1985 in Chigorodó, Colombia.
Juan began his youth career in 2002 at Atlético Nacional and played at the home club side for 7 years. During that time he scored 9 goals in 123 appearances and at the national level and 17 appearances in South American Championships. As part of Atlético Nacional team Zúñiga won Colombian Categoría Primera A 3 times.
In June 2008 Zúñiga chose Siena over Boca Juniors and played 29 games with the club’s first team during the 2008/09 season. Juan’s successful performance attracted attention of the Italian football giants: Juventus, Udinese, Lazio and Genoa.
On 26 June 2009 Zúñiga signed a 5-year contract with Napoli and on 23 August he made his debut in a match against Palermo coming on as substitute for Jesús Dátolo. During his season at Napoli Zúñiga made 22 appearances but only 14 as a starter.
Juan Zúñiga’s international career started at the Colombian youth team side as the South American squad made their way to the round of 16.
In March 2005 Zúñiga debuted in Colombia senior squad in a 3-0 friendly match against USA.
In 2007 Zúñiga played 1 match of Copa América for Colombia.
Juan Zúñiga is also a threefold Primera A champion.
