The player started his career at Enyimba in 1998. In between 1999 and 2001, Kalu played for Iwuanyanwu Nationale and the Spanish side Espanyol B.
In the summer of 2001 Uche transferred to Wisła Kraków. Being part of the club’s first team he made his debut in the Ekstraklasa on 30 September 2001. It was a game against Widzew Łódź. Kalu won the Polish League three times and Polish Cup twice during his four-year stint at the club. In the 2004/05 season the footballer was released on loan to Bordeaux.
Uche joined Spanish Almería in 2005. Kalu made his debut for the first squad only on 26 August 2007. He came on as a substitute in a match against Deportivo de La Coruña. All in all, Uche scored 39 goals in 172 appearances for the club for six years.
In 2011, he had a short spell at Neuchâtel Xamax from the Swiss Super League and then moved to Espanyol. In the summer 2012, Uche joined Turkish Kasımpaşa.
One season later the Nigerian switched for El-Jaish from Qatar. Soon after that he switched for another Qatari side Al-Rayyan.
Kalu Uche is a regular international for the Nigeria national team since 2003.
