Karl Sheppard is a striker of Reading. He was born on 14 February 1991 in Dublin, Ireland.
Karl’s youth career took off in the academy of Portmarnock A.F.C., continued in Shelbourne and ended in Liverpool side Everton. The footballer spent three years in the latter and prepared himself for a professional start.
In 2010 Sheppard’s level perfectly corresponded to the level of the senior football, but the things did not go well in ‘The Toffees’ and the footballer left the club as soon as he graduated from the academy. Galway United offered him a place in the team on permanent basis and Karl accepted the offer almost immediately, because that was a tempting alternative for the young striker. Everything happened just like the club management had promised and Sheppard managed to find the net eight times in 35 games.
In 2011 Karl ended his Galway United spell with Shamrock Rovers move, where he spent some really beneficial time. The footballer was let on the pitch 35 times and netted 15 goals. In January 2012, Sheppard officially signed for Reading on a free transfer and penned a two-and-a-half-year deal. However, he was left at his former club for a loan spell.
In 2011 Sheppard made his international début for the Republic of Ireland national U-21 team.
