Kasper Schmeichel is a goalkeeper of Leicester City. He was born on 5 November 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The footballer is a son of former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.
In 2004, Kasper graduated to the main team of Manchester City after two years in the academy of the club. The footballer penned a five-year contract with ‘The Citizens’ and began to make occasional starts, but he was more often used as a reserve keeper.
In 2006, Schmeichel took part in four fixtures for Darlington during his temporary one-month spell. In February the same year, the goalie went on a three-month loan to Bury, which extended Kasper’s deal for another three months after the expiry of his first contract. In 2007, the footballer moved to Falkirk and featured in 15 games for the new temporary club during six months. In the second part of the 2007/2008 season, Schmeichel performed for Cardiff City and Coventry City on loan as well.
In the summer 2009, the keeper sealed a permanent deal with Notts County, where he got an opportunity to become a regular. Kasper took part in 43 fixtures for the new club during one season and transferred to Leeds United, where he managed to gain the head coach’s confidence at once. The footballer made 37 appearances for Leeds during one year.
In the summer 2011, Schmeichel finalized a move to Leicester City and became a stalwart in the goal.
From 2004 till 2008, the keeper was capped 26 times for the Denmark national U-19, U-20 and U-21 squads. In 2012, Kasper received a call-up to the full national team, but had to watch the game from the substitutes’ bench.
